Brit Air built by Multiplast, world champion !

In finishing second in the Vendée Globe and second in the English Transat, Armel Le Cléac'h has sailed his 60 foot Imoca monohull Brit Air onto the highest podium place in the Imoca World Championship. His success is the result of excellent management all round, but also due to having an extremely reliable yacht to race.

Armel Le Cléac'h : "... Brit Air has measured up to expectations. We opted for simplicity and reliability. She has not let us down. At the Vendée Globe finish, lots of people were surprised to see that apart from the odd bit of wear and tear, she looked as good as new - in spite of the fact that she has clocked up the best part of two circumnavigations. We ran into some extremely tough winds and seas in the home straight in the Bay of Biscay

Crossing the finishing line at Les Sables d'Olone (France) Saturday February 7, 2009 at 08h 41' 35" Gmt, French skipper Armel le Cleac'h end 2nd of the 2008/2009 Vendée Globe, after an exemplary navigation of 89d 09h 39' 35" aboard Imoca 60-footer Brit Air built by Multiplast. 31 years old, as a rookie, Breton skipper must be considered as an "able seaman". Armel le Cleac'h : "... First goal was to complete that RTW, to sail the best I can, having a nice course and well managing myself in the south seas. That has been my philosophy during the entire race. I have reach my target at 100 %. And speaking about my boat designed by Finot-Conq and built by Multiplast, we have made the choice of a simple and reliable boat able to end a round the world.
