A delegation from Multiplast was present on the opening day of the London Boat Show for the Volvo Ocean Race press conference.
After building the French challenger for the America's Cup, "6e Sens", which reached the semi-finals of the Louis Vuitton Cup qualifying rounds, and proved to be one of the most reliable boats in the fleet, Multiplast is currently building three 33 metre (108 ft) maxi-catamarans for The Race ; one, "Club Med" for New zealand skipper Grant Dalton, one, "Team Adventure" for the American skipper Cam Lewis and one, "Code 1", which remains confidential for the time being. Not forgetting "Polpharma-Warta", formely the famous "Explorer", which will also be in The Race under the Polish banner with skipper Roman Paszke. As Explorer, this legendary boat holds two Pacific records and under the name of "Jet Services V", she still holds the elusive Atlantic crossing record. This year, the Multiplast yard, which has 20 years experience of building advanced composite ocean racing boats, has been extended and modernised, now offering some of the most up to the minute and sophisticated boat building facilities in the world. Multiplast would of course be delighted to be involved in the Volvo Ocean Race, and will have slots vacant for building boats from the middle of the year 2000.
