"Bravo Monsieur PEYRON for your win in the Route du Rhum 2014".
______________________________________________________________________
With his victory in the 10th edition of the Route du Rhum, Peyron at last adds this prestigious race to his packed list of achievements. With Yann Guichard, skipper of Spindrift 2 hot in pursuit throughout the race, Loïck gave nothing away in securing the win. Morever, with the victory the Trimaran Banque Populaire (ex Groupama 3) built at the Multiplast yard in 2007, has won this fabulous race for the second time in a row.
Ironic twist...
Who could have imagined, last spring, watching Loïck working at the Multiplast yard on his small trimaran Happy, sister-ship to the first Route du Rhum winner, that but a few months later, he would be the winner of this race ... an a maxi multihulls and set a new record in 7 days, 15 hours and 8 mn !
It certainly was a twist of fate that brought this result to pass, because, it was only after Armel Le Cléac'h's injury, that the Banque Populaire Team asked Loïck Peyron to skipper their trimaran for this, the most prestigious transat. After 24 hours in which to reflect, Loïck changed from racing the Route du Rhum on one of the smallest boats of the fleet to one of the biggest..

A great deal of passion...
Yann Penfornis, Manager of Multiplast :" At Multiplast, everyone follwed the race with a great deal of passion, emotion and also sadness. First of all sadness to see Thomas Coville on Sodebo Ultim' having to abandon his race after a collision, emotion to watch our trimarans being battered by winds and rain at 45 knots. But overall, lots of pride to see that our boats fought at the front of the fleet during all of the race"

Still on all the fronts
Multiplast technicians are involved on all the fronts of the offshore racing. While a team is in Cape Town maintaining Volvo Ocean Race boats, two new monohulls for the next Vendée Globe are being in the Multiplast workshops (Gitana Edmond de Rothschild for Sébastien Josse and Virbac St-Michel for Jean-Pierre Dick).
